The Stingrays unveiled their plans for Opening Night (Saturday, October 13) earlier this morning and I am excited for hockey season.
Here is the breakdown of all the events for the day:
Stingrays Alumni Game
The Stingrays will host their second-ever Alumni Game at 2 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Admission is free. This is a great way to celebrate the Stingrays’ 20th anniversary. In our last alumni game, we had players from the inaugural season (1993-94) to present and it was an exciting time for both players and fans. The roster will be announced at a later date. Were you at the Alumni Game last season? What did you think?
Hockey Happy Hour
The Stingrays and the Coliseum will host Hockey Happy Hour from 5-7 p.m. featuring $2 beer. This is a great special that I know a lot of fans will love and it allows everyone to continue the fun from their tailgate parties in the parking lot.
SuperFan Cameron Hughes
World-famous super fan Cameron Hughes will be performing all night during the Stingrays game against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. He will be cheering, yelling, dancing, throwing t-shirts and running around like a….super fan. Check out Cameron in action:
Cameron danced at the 2011 US Open with tennis star Novak Djokovic
And finally, here is a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a super fan…
4 for $20 Deal
Fans can grab four tickets for $20 for Opening Night. This is a great deal especially if you want to bring family, friends or someone new to hockey/Stingrays. Check it out online at StingraysHockey.com or call 843.744.2248.
See you at the rink!

I truly appreciate the effort you guys are putting forth for my daughter’s first birthday……….
I just wish I could be there for it. Hopefully the promo schedule for January will have some good stuff going on for my first game.
I think it is fantastic that we can have alumni games. the fact that we have guys that are willing to strap on the pads again is awesome. It says a lot about the time they spent with us and that the memories they had were positive and lasting.
I remember a few years ago when Cameron was hyping the crowd at a game he felt and hurt himself pretty bad. But he was a true professional and kept going, even if he was just hopping on one foot for the rest of the night. He should have the fans in a frenzy if we can pack the house.
Awesome way to start the season. Come early and get the season rolling!!!
