Cross Heads to AHL

Earlier today, Stingrays defenseman Tommy Cross was called up to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. For Cross, it is his first call up of the season. I’m glad I was able to have him as a guest on the coach’s show while I could.

From Providence:

Cross skated in 22 games for the Stingrays since being assigned on October 11. The 6’3”, 210-pound defenseman led the team in scoring with 17 points on six goals and 11 assists.

Cross, a four-year product of Boston College, joined Providence at the end of the 2011-12 season for two games. Boston’s second round pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft won two NCAA Championships while at Boston College.

I, too, am glad you had Tommy on this week’s show. I had a chance to talk a while with him and he is definitely for real. One of the nicest, most humble players we have had, much like last year’s Paul Baier. I don’t think we will be seeing him down here again. We’ve done our job….validated his scoring , leadership, and defensive abilities. Bring on the next future NHLer! Speaking of that, we have now lost three to Providence. Shouldn’t we be receiving a few more to replace them?????
